Visitor Information

The City of Palo Alto is more than 100 years old and is named after a 1000 years old coastal redwood tree along the San Francisquito Creek where early Spanish explorers settled.

The vibrant downtown anchors the blend of business and residential areas and defines Palo Alto's unique character. The Bryant Bike Boulevard connects the City's residential neighborhoods with downtown. The area is dotted with the Spanish influenced architecture of Birge Clark and Pedro de Lemos next to the modern designs of Eichler. This charming mixture of old and new reflect the City's California heritage.

Palo Alto is recognized worldwide as a leader in cutting edge technological development. This exciting mix of tradition and innovation makes Palo Alto an extraordinary place in which to operate a business.

Downtown Palo Alto is the gateway to the prestigousStanford University. This world class institution provides many cultural events and benefits to the community and the visiting public.

Through an ongoing partnership dubbed "Destination Palo Alto", the City of Palo Alto, Stanford University, Palo Alto Downtown Business and Professional Association(BID) and the Chamber of  Commerce will sponsor events and promotions to attract visitorship and patronage to our local merchants.www.destinationpaloalto.com
